Aion: Tower of Eternity is an upcoming MMORPG in which two races, the angelic Elyos and demon-like Asmodians, battle against each other in the world of Atreia. There will be heavy emphasis on aerial combat. Players will be able to fly, as both races are winged, and fight in the air.
The game is currently in Beta testing. Anyone who preorders Aion will receive a code to participate in the Beta. There are various beta events, and a schedule can be found here. Beta is currently going on now through July 6. A great way to spend this extended holiday weekend.
Additionally, anyone who participates in this weekend's beta, and levels their character to at least level 3, will be entered into a drawing. Grand prize is a trip to Seattle for two, access to the Aion launch party at the Seattle Space Needle, and will be able to attend the PAX 2009 Expo.
All it takes to get started is to preorder the game. It can be purchased at any local GameStop, or Amazon.com. The game retails for $48, $70 for the collector's edition. Either version will give you the code for Beta. If you purchase it in store at GameStop, you will be given a case with your code inside. Go to Aiononline.com, and create your account. You will then receive a link to download the NCSoft client and the Aion game. This is very memory-heavy, and requires a good connection, plenty of free hard drive space (at least 15 GB), and some patience.
